Fire Fighting

The purpose of the fire fighting system on a vessel is to ensure the safety of life at sea, protect the vessel's structure and valuable cargo, and mitigate environmental damage by detecting, containing, controlling, and extinguishing fires.

Given the confined spaces, presence of flammable materials (fuel, oil, cargo), and the isolation of a ship at sea (external help may be hours or days away), an effective and autonomous fire safety system is critical.
